Can’t wait to hear about your learning, the trip, all the places you visit, and if you get to be a part of the march to commemorate the MLK Civil Rights March of 1963!!!

Enjoy the conference! I hope you make good connections but also have some rest space if things get too people-y!

Thank you! My rest is usually active - I biked and ran in downtown DC this evening and that’s my very very happy space and it was an excellent recharge!

Have so much fun, friend!! I have social anxiety too. I hope you meet at least one really cool person.

It’s wild because you’re like the last person I’d expect to have social anxiety, but I remember you said that about your own NOLA trip! I’ve been keeping your comment in mind - bar on the floor, just meet one cool person and that’s enough. (Regardless if that’s what you meant- I’m taking it that way!) Maybe tomorrow... 😅😅😅

That’s what I meant! I’m fine once I get talking to someone about something I care about.

I’m so excited for you! I’ll be interested to hear what you think about delivering EMDR via telehealth. And its application with religious trauma, wheee! I’ll be in DC in a couple weeks to socialize and to return to the Phillips Collection, one of my favorite museums. Can’t wait! Have a great time!

I occasionally do telehealth, either self-tapping or visual (me using fingers)! Have you? Aww yay DC trips! Too bad we don’t overlap! The religious trauma workshop was 🤩👏

I have, but I haven't felt it to be as effective as in person. There are a couple of websites that offer EMDR platforms for therapists to use, but at this point I'm happy to refer out for EMDR to someone that employs the technique more regularly than I do. Having trained in psychoanalysis, talk therapy is my jam. So happy you got to do that workshop! Maybe one day we will overlap in DC! :)

I was in DC in July for a work conference, and I agree it's such an interesting place to visit. I tacked on an extra day so I could go kayaking on the Potomac (with Boating in DC at Key Bridge), and to make it to the Stephen Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, out in Chantilly, VA (totally worth it if you're a space or aviation nerd- I could have just sat next to the Space Shuttle Discovery for hours).

Hope you have a great trip! There's so much good food in DC. If you make it up to the Adams Morgan neighborhood, I highly recommend D Light Cafe & Bakery. It's a well-reviewed Ukrainian restaurant, and it lived up to its ratings when I had lunch there. I found the Capital Bikeshare really useful during my stay, as well. It enabled me to see a lot more in the limited time I had.
