Hi friends! It’s midnight before I send out this email and I’m in Washington, D.C. for an EMDR conference! It starts tomorrow so no fun things to share about my learning quite yet, but I am very nerdily excited about my first EMDR conference and the things I hope to soak up from it.
I love learning, especially my special interests (I also like politics and history so D.C. is a fantastic place to stay!!). But I hate networking and sort of hate meeting new people in general (unless it’s one-on-one, which is definitely not the case here) … so I’m nervous for the people-ing part of the conference.
Riding the D.C. Metro and hauling my stuff up and down hills and walking over 22,000 steps today (!!) reminded me of my year of AmeriCorps in Boston, which will always hold a sweet sheen for me. There’s so much fascinating parts of history and current events here and I feel a little surprised delight stumbling upon it all.
So that’s my little update for today. How are you all doing? Have you ever been to D.C., or are you a politics junkie? Looking forward to sharing more hopefully next week about some of the great things I’ll learn (like a workshop on EMDR and religious trauma! And EMDR and neurodivergence! SO STOKED).
Can’t wait to hear about your learning, the trip, all the places you visit, and if you get to be a part of the march to commemorate the MLK Civil Rights March of 1963!!!
Can’t wait to hear about what you learn! ✨
