I was trained through the Touchstone Institute, which felt like a gentler way to learn EMDR somehow? They have a perinatal focus so there's a lot of emphasis on complex trauma or acknowledging that trauma people aren't even aware of can impact their well-being. My trainer Mara Tesler-Stein was awesome!! touchstoneinstitute.org
Sunday can be fun! What a novel concept! Now if they would just cut the work week to four days (same pay) so work Monday doesn't come after Sunday, wouldn't life be glorious?! 😂
I love that you had a good Sunday! Low expectations weekends have helped us so much.
I’ve done EMDR with three therapists now. The first time, it’s not an exaggeration to say it was transformative. The other two times….meh. I wonder if it’s due to the place I was in (at the end of my rope vs less traumatized), the therapist herself (the first was the best/most experienced by a long shot), or something else completely.
Adapting to ours / our kids' needs -- what a fantastic way to live, eh?? 😆
I think the therapist definitely makes a difference! I'm not that seasoned at EMDR itself but I do use it pretty intuitively rather than following the exact structure and script, and that seems to work well with my people (I don't know exactly how your first one was!). I love that it was transformative for you when you most needed it, though!
I appreciate the positivity of your post, sharing good news (not "the good news"!). The idea of enjoyment without the religious underbelly of not deserving it was a beautiful part of my identity rebuild so far, and my good news is that the person who helped me most to recast that piece of my religious trauma has become my significant other. Thank you for the invite to post good news!
Haha yes, good news not "THE good news!" YAY for the person who's been so important on your journey now being your significant other, and many cheers to enjoyment because enjoyable things are just worth enjoying 😊
I started EMDR recently because of another post you mentioned it in. I think it's been helpful! Thanks!
Yay! I hope you find it even more helpful as you go along!!
Good for you! It's taking me forever to let go of the Sunday church guilt!
Any recommendations for EMDR training? It's so expensive but I'd love to learn!

Yes! And add a month off in the summer too, like in Europe?!?!?
