We were those indoctrinated parents with indoctrinated kids. We have all (mostly) come out of it and reunited no matter what our beliefs. It is absurd to let religion separate. Funny enough we’re all trending blue! Now they do have a lovable midwestern dad (and mom)!!

So refreshing to hear a story of coming out that to the other side! ☺️

It's such an important choice: To stick by loved ones despite differences in politics and religion. I mean seriously, those are just ideas and in no way as important as loving one another. Just ask Jesus!

“I don’t agree with my in-laws politically, but I have never once doubted the strength of their family bonds, or the warmth that they welcomed me into their lives.” This is my mother-in-law 😊.

I have an interesting podcast episode coming on the topic of family estrangement after leaving high-control religion this season!

What a concept!

We went to my parents for a family event last weekend and for the first time EVER in my entire life they had a trump sign in their yard. 💔 im listening to Krispin & DLs stories this week and just feeling so validated and so sad that I grew up in (and my parents are still a part of) a cult.

That pig photo is just so ridiculously heart warming. I can’t even. 😍😍😍

Oh man, seeing a Trump sign (and starting NOW, of all times??) feels so heart-sinking! 😢

I met someone yesterday who didn’t like Tim Walz - I was like whaaaaat? Turns out they didn’t like his trans safe haven law. Go figure.

Also, yes, it’s really hard to have family be condescending when your beliefs change - religious or political. I hate elections years when my mom tries to convince me not to vote blue (since Trump).
