Your new office space is gorgeous. I am miles away but drafting off the beauty of the natural light streaming in and how you've decorated it. I have ADHD and autism and cannot imagine communicating without 29 billion units of nuance and qualification (some of it cringey and apologetic, some of it erudite perseveration over-explaining). You are not alone. And you are not broken or defective or inadequate for your use of parentheses, or anything else, as you communicate your thoughts. You are beautiful, as are all the centers of consciousness within you, your IFS parts--which brings me to the input I've got for the newsletter. If at some point you might be willing to weigh in on your experience with, and assessment of, the Internal Family System model of spirituality (being as woo as you'd like!!!! bring it!!!), I would be delighted. You are loved. Thank you for writing this newsletter.
Thank you, MK! I laughed at the "29 billion units of nuance and qualification (some of it cringey and apologetic, some of it erudite perseveration over-explaining)" -- because all of it is okay, and like you say, all parts [IFS or otherwise] are welcome! All of YOU is welcome here exactly as you are, too. Love the idea of talking about IFS and especially the spirituality aspect! I am so, so glad you are here ❤️
Thank you! I appreciate people who understand that parentheses are actually an essential part of accurate communication. I find myself self-consciously editing emails to clients to try and eliminate a few of them, but I like that this is a place where they're welcome!
Love the new space! I value that this letter is a space where we show up as we are and all our parts are welcome. I value it just as it is. Love reading everyone’s comments too and feeling we are all growing together. My spirituality is pretty “woo woo” and not something I’ll ever put into a box again. I’m into the struggle, and the beauty. Much love to you.
The amount of warm and fuzzies I have from reading your comment 🥰🥰 Also, I didn't even really think of them this way, but I really like the framing of the writing as a letter! Thank you for being part of what's going on here ❤️
Great office--looks so cozy and homey! Can't wait for those mystical woo woo topics! Mysticism is one of my special interests. Also I love all the tools a writer has to emphasize, understate, and elaborate: parentheses, brackets, ellipses, dashes, colons, boldface, all capitals, and quotes (what tools did I forget?)! Oh yeah--emojis! 😂
The immense joy it brings me to envision you meeting with clients and experiencing the outside. It’s a game changer. There are times, especially on sunny days, that I just stand by the window in the sunshine and notice what’s out there and let the warmth of the sun burn away any stresses. It’s just a moment, and it carries me through the day.
Thank you for sharing my joy! I told a client the other day I feel like a plant that suddenly found the sun again. A true game-changer! I love your window moments for you!
Parentheses (and dashes and ellipses, etc.) are totally a neurodivergent thing! I first came across it with a screenshot of a tweet from @donidonovan (ADHD Comics): "The ADHD urge to use parentheses in every sentence (because every thought comes with additional bonus content)."
And congrats on the new (ish) office space! (I know I'm terribly behind here. It's been a bit.) Daylight (and thus the ability to really feel time passing, among other things) makes a world of difference.
I’m late to this because I needed some time off the app. I can’t wait to here more on the developments in your spiritual practice. I’m also seeking ways to rebuild so I’m looking forward to following your journey
I hear that -- I definitely wayyyy spend more time on Substack / my emails than I ever do on social media. 😬 Glad you're taking care of yourself, and glad you're still here for the journey!

Congrats on the new space, it’s gorgeous! Yay for sunlight! I think parentheses must be a ND thing. The urge to use them all the time is strong.
I am ND and love parentheses--and dashes! 😄
all the dashes!

EMOJIS!!! Yes for sure. Sometimes I hand-write things and I'm like, man, wish I could just draw the necessary emoji right here... 😂
I know you'll be all in on any mystically-oriented topics, indeed!! 😁

Thanks for your spring fever and new space with windows and “bird reading”. Thanks for being unfettered!!!
Unfettered! Yes! 😄

Bonus content, yes!! And the ever-present urge to clarify what I’m convinced are my perpetually confusing thoughts. 😆
And thank you on my newish space! So true about physically sensing time pass. I welcome your comment no matter how late 😊

Love the new office space! Yes let in the light!! ☀️
I’m very interested in learning more about the new age spiritual traditions you were referring to. I love your new office!!
