I Wanna Hear From You / An Update!

Hellooooo beloved readers! As I write this, it’s Thursday night and I had full intentions of publishing a different piece I’m excited about. But… I want to do it justice, and it’s been one of those weeks where you say “it’s been a WEEK.” I feel like I’m drowning in client appointments and new client inquiries and paperwork and court issues and rushing home after work to spend the next three hours feeding and putting children to bed*. Lather, rinse, repeat. And I am emotionally spent!
*I am trying to figure out what balance looks like for me when I work for myself, and how to avoid frying myself so hard that I want to bite off everyone’s head who crosses me when I am home with my family. Hint: I haven’t achieved said balance quite yet.
So, I’m practicing flexibility, which is NOT one of my most valued skills, and pivoting to something that will bring me joy:

In the coming weeks, I’m going to try and make some connections between my fruit salad of topics, especially motherhood vs patriarchy & exvangelicalism. The post I’m midway through is about why I write honestly about motherhood and how it’s an antidote to the Good Christian Ideal Mother trope. (Or honestly, any Good Ideal Mother trope). I’m also going take another dive back into the topic of abortion and reproductive choice after that, with a post about why becoming a mom made me more pro-choice. If you’re not a subscriber… ya might want to change your mind and push the button!

Answering my own questions seems a little redundant, so I'll just chat! I did want to note that even though I've been feeling exhausted by the pace of clients and childcaring (and it's not the actual people / clients / children themselves - it's the nonstop feeling of it all), writing this newsletter is a great outlet for me. I love the chance to flesh out opinions and thoughts and essays in a way I definitely don't get to do in my day job, lol. And when I hear from readers, it's such a delight!
My brother and sis-in-law are coming into the great wide world of the Midwest this upcoming week and I'm excited for family time and having them hang out with my kids - they live across the country and we see each other maybe once a year. So that's my good news of the week!
